A Material Handler is generally working in a Distribution Center and assists in the effective operation of the distribution center. This is a very important task which is controlled by accountants. What education does a Material Handler need? A Material Handler requires at least a high school diploma and a valid driving license. Also a license to operate Hi-Low
equipment and forklifts is necessary if he works in a warehouse with high storage and large goods. The Material Handler has to have computer skills to prepare reports and handle the storage software. In case the warehouse contains dangerous and hazardous goods, the Material Handler requires additional HAVOC training. Additionally the Material Handler requires skills in record keeping, safe working, heavy lifting and education of other employees in the warehouse. Health and Safety In some warehouses heavy lifting is required and this will have an impact on the health of the Material Handlers. Training alone is not enough and will not prevent possible injuries to back and knees of the Material Handler.
