World News - Great Disappointment At Iran Nuclear Talks.

World News ISTANBUL – The recent talks between Iran and foreign powers on the nuclear program have ended in great disappointment. EU foreign policy chief Baroness Ashton, who led the international team, said she was "disappointed" that Iran had sought to impose pre-conditions on any deal. The foreign negotiators proposed a revised version of a nuclear fuel swap plan, but the Iranian negotiators only wanted to discuss nuclear disarmament in general. This difference in opinions could not be solved and the talks ended up without result. The revised fuel swap plan The fuels swap plan means that Tehran would ship some enriched uranium
abroad and would get reactor fuel in return and this plan was designed to build up confidence, so Western officials said on the BBC. Details of the revised fuel swap plan are not given, but it is important to build confidence with Iran so the delegation said. Nuclear Weapon For a long time US and other Western powers claim that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon, but Iran has denied this and proof was not found. The delegation was led by Baroness Ashton and contained members from France, Germany, Russia, the UK, US and China and had talked for two days in Istanbul. The 2009
Fuel swap proposal
In the original Fuel swap proposal of 2009, Iran would send most of its low-enriched uranium to Russia for re-processing and reactor grade 20% enriched uranium would be returned to Iran as fuel rods. Also this proposal would remove the excuse of Iran to enrich uranium further. This proposal was rejected by Iran in November 2009 and Iran has started to enrich uranium to 20% themselves in February 2010. There was a counter proposal from Iran in which they offered to swap batches of low-enriched uranium on their own soil. The foreign correspondents in Iran said that the main reason for the rejection of the 2009 fuel swap plan was that Iran was afraid it might did not get back the uranium that was supposed to be send to Russia and then ending up with no uranium fuel rods at all. The UN has put sanctions on this rejection but these will only make it more difficult to obtain equipment, technology and finances, but due to the fact that Iran is trading oil and gas on a large scale, this will not affect the income resources of Iran.
